The Reception will begin at 11:30am at The Philadelphia Marriott Old City at One Dock Street, Philadelphia (formerly the Sheraton Hotel where we’ve frequently held the event in previous years). Members and their guests will enjoy light refreshments and food offered throughout.
Parking will be available for all attendees for $25 (which includes all taxes) – just inform the valet staff that you are with the Let Freedom Ring reception.
Members are asked to proudly wear your Society tie and rosette for this celebration.
The Parade: The reception at the hotel will last until approximately 1pm, when the PSSR Color Guard will assemble in front of the hotel for the parade up to Washington Square Park. Attendees are asked to join with us as we parade the Society’s Standard and Colors of the American Revolution. As we parade, we will be joined by The Watson Highlanders Fife and Drum, Troopers from The First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, and members of the public and local community.
Bus Transportation: We will also have a comfortable coach to transport members over to Washington Square Park, who would rather not walk with the Color Guard Flag Parade. This bus will drop off at the corner of Washington Square Park, and then pick up at the same location immediately after the end of the event, approximately 2:15pm, and return back to the Marriott Hotel.
The Celebration Event: The Parade will arrive at Washington Square Park at approximately 1:30pm for a patriotic celebration of Let Freedom Ring, with the culmination being the 2pm bell ringing while the young Descendants of Signers of the Declaration of Independence gently tap the liberty bell. We also look forward to being led, in song, by the festive tones of a quartet of members of The Orpheus Club of Philadelphia.
We look forward to seeing you all on 4th July, and please don’t hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions at all.
