New Citizens Naturalization Ceremony in Berks County
On July 29th, The Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution, represented by Troy Keener, participated in the New Citizens Naturalization Ceremony held in Reading, Pennsylvania at the Berks County Courthouse. This was the first time the Society has taken part in a Berks County ceremony.
During the event, 38 new citizens from 10 different countries took the Oath of Citizenship. The ceremony was organized by the Berks County Bar Association and presided over by Judge Eric Taylor, who welcomed the new citizens and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities of their new home while honoring their heritage.
The ceremony featured personal stories, including Angelica Matias, an attorney with MidPenn Legal Services, who shared her own experience of rebuilding her life after leaving Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. She spoke about perseverance, resilience, and using one’s unique background to contribute to the United States.
The Society’s participation strengthened its visibility and engagement within the region, connecting the proceedings to the legacy of our Revolutionary War patriots.
